The Cork Test

I had one crazy weekend.

I was back in MI for a baby shower and a wedding shower.

With my family.

At least I earned two drinks out of it.

Ok, I didn't really earn them, but won them. Is it bad to bet on your family?

Anyhoo, my pregnant cousin is expecting a baby girl, or so the sonogram says, but the cork says differently.

What is the cork?

You've never seen this done?

Oh, silly friends, it is classic!

You dangle a cork from a string above the belly of a pregnant woman and it can tell you if she is having a boy or girl. A spinning cork is the sign of a girl and a back and forth motion indicates a boy.

It's not really scientific, but my mother claims it correctly predicted both myself and my brother.

So we will see if my cousin really has a little girl. It could be very amusing if she has a boy instead, she received lots of little pink clothes!

Scum of the Earth

Today I learned a very valuable lesson:

I am solely responsible for the temperature of my work place (according to a little old lady it's too warm) and I am to blame for the lining color of Coach handbags.

Feel free to rant and scold me.

But you might have to take a number and get in line.

Maybe bring a snack.

It's going to be quite a wait.

The Oracle Business

Alright, who followed and watched the World Cup?

Anyone?

I did...kind of.

I was more interested in it when I heard about this little guy.

Yep, I was only interested when an eight legged sea creature was involved.

What can I say? Sports need gimmicks for me to pay attention, that, or seats to a live game with beer and a hot dog!

Life here has been crazy. I had a friend from High school in town this weekend and we had a blast. I bought two dresses to wear home for the baby and wedding showers at the end of this month. (I promise more to come on that, as always, with my family there are tons of stories to share!)

We also saw Billy Elliot: The Musical and I surprisingly wasn't too disappointed. I love the movie, so I went knowing that it wouldn't be as good and was very pleased. To top off the weekend we did the Chicago Architecture Foundation River Cruise and learned tons about the city and it's architecture! As always, visits from friends are always too short. I wish weekends were much longer...

"The Claaawwww!!!"

This has been the summer of sequels. Alright, every summer is the summer of sequels, but this summer I have seen more than my fair share of them.

My latest movie experience was "Toy Story 3" and let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised. It was very cute, funny and a great ending to a memorable series.

I don't want to ruin the movie for you, so I will just suggest that you all take a rainy afternoon and treat yourself.

Monday Update

I'm thinking I will start updating once a week on Mondays.

We like Mondays, right?

The start of the work week, the end of the weekend...

Ok, we don't like Mondays.

Very bad idea, forget I said anything.

But I *do* need to update more.

I hope everyone had a fantastically patriotic 4th of July filled with grilled food, drinks and fireworks. I managed to escape the city for a few hours and head to Plainfield, IL where we drove on part of old Route 66 and nearly got lost in a cornfield. It was amusing, especially when some shouting and scolding was done in Spanish. Not at me, but at the navigator. Can anyone tell me why I didn't take Spanish classes in High School and/or college?

After several hours of food, sun and pool I found it extremely difficult to head back to work today. Unfortunately, my place of employment doesn't feel the need to observe in anyway, shape or form National Holidays. Weird, right?

One day I will have a real job.

One where customers wearing black rhinestone tank tops with blue velor pants don't come in and call a $400 purse tacky. (I wanted to hand her a mirror and tell her to take a look at herself. It was the pot calling the kettle black!!!!)

Happy summer, I hope you all enjoy the warm weather! (My friend Jerry does too!)
