Just to the West

This past weekend MPC and I took a mini-break out to St. Charles, IL. It's just west of the city in the "Fox Valley" area, meaning everything is named after the Fox River. It was kind of worrisome to see so many things named after a furry little mammal.

It was so nice to escape the craziness of the city just for a little bit. I knew I wasn't in a real city the moment we hopped in the cab at the train station and the cabbie greeted us with a "Yo, what's up?" and had a rock station playing. I had a feeling he might have been high, but he was nice and didn't smell funny like so many of the Chicago cabbies so it was a welcomed change!

Without any public transportation we walked a few miles downtown and back during the day on Saturday and managed to catch a lovely windburn on my face! That night we went to a sushi place that featured a floating sushi bar and a very crazy chef. It was fun and the food tasty!

The sushi would just fly by on cute little boats! I couldn't take a clear picture for the life of me!

It was so yummy! I love sushi!!!!!!

After the sushi we hit up a cute little bar, met the owner, who gave us free root beer shots and I discovered this fabulous Lambic beer!

We had a great time and I wish that weekends could be longer!

Can you tap dance?

Seen any good movies lately?

There are a lot of Oscar contenders in theaters, including this one:

Looks interesting, right? I'll bet you've read a review or two, and have heard good things.Heck, the tag line is "A love story". Let's not forget the adorable Ryan Gosling! How can one turn it down?

You must turn it down, unless you are looking to be depressed. Very depressed.

It is such a realistic depiction of modern relationships, it is fantastic, the acting is amazing, but it was so sad. SO SAD!

Let's just say that I spend half of the movie cringing, hoping it would all end soon because it was so true to life that it hurt.

Get Happy

My post yesterday was a little depressing.

Sorry.

I should have been optimistic and hopeful for the new year, sharing with you my resolutions and hopes for the next 365 days.

I would do it today, but I'm still in a very crappy mood.

Let's just say one of these days I hope to be positive again and will at that time share happy tidings for the new year. Until then, let's say my resolution is to get happy.

Anything and everything a chap can unload...

Kids, the Holidays were exhausting this year. I think it means I'm a real "adult". Why? Because it felt like work. I spent half of my trip home at the hospital with my grandmother. I am happy to report that she is doing better, but still not 100%. We'll see how her doctor appointment goes this week.

The CTA still hates me, I really thought this year we could put our past issues aside and become friends, but at 4am New Years day I was kicked of the "L" for an unexplained "emergency". Then, yesterday, my bus wasn't running for another unexplained "emergency". Maybe I will take up biking or running in 2011. It has to be better than just standing at a platform or bus stop freezing my butt off.

Anyhow, I hope everyone has a wonderful New Year!
