Just for Fun!

I'm an Apartment. What are you?

Just Like Old Times

This week I have met up with two old friends from High School. It has been very weird and cool at the same time. Today I met up with Jon. He has really found himself here in Chicago and it was really fun to have coffee with him today. We chatted for almost 4 hours!!

Oh, and today I picked up Chicago Library card today! Yay!!!!

Click

Quiz Time!

You are like a photographer

To you, every little thing can convey something because you're so observant! You don't especially like taking real things and recreating them--you want to show things like they are. • on the outside, you are popular and smart, as well as nerdy. You love science, and you feel more than you think. • on the inside, you are hurt very easily but you are good at giving advice. you don't follow your own advice too often. But you're one of those people doomed to fall deeply in love.

I love quizzes. They make me happy.

I had a dream I was pregnant last night. It was very, very weird.

To answer SleepGirl's question, May 9th, 10th and 11th.

Busy Days

Today was quite exciting even though I didn't work! Here's what happened:

-- Lunch with a friend from high school at the "Bongo Room"
-- Witnessed a drug deal
-- Discovered Myopic
-- Bought a book and lied to the cashier telling him it was "for a friend"(I even asked for a gift receipt)
-- Cleaned my Apartment
-- Discovered that the dryer in the building does a great job when you don't put too much in it

Tomorrow I have to work, but then I have Wednesday off!

I was thinking about my three day weekend and I would love to have you guys come out. Let me know if it works for any of you. I know things are crazy with jobs and the end of the semester stuff. Just throwing it out there!

Okey Dokey

My friends,

I appreciate your comments of reason. I *know* deep down that it isn't very probable that I will catch the Swine flu and die, but every time I watch the Chicago news they make it sound TERRIBLE!!!! Just think about all of those people who come into Chicago via O'Hare! Anyways, I don't know why I am letting the flu bother me when global warming is going to do us all in!

I am trying not to freak.

But, it's not really working...

In work related news, I think I helped pick out tights for a gay wedding. The guy was really funny and cute about making sure the tights matched the dress. I like friendly customers!

In family news, my dad is going to have his gall bladder removed. Apparently he has gall stones. At first they thought he had an ulcer, but after his recent hospital visit on Friday they decided it was his gall bladder. I guess it's a good thing you don't really need your gall bladder!

I hate being far away from my family when things like this are going on.

I have a three day weekend coming up! May 9, 10, and 11!!! Yay!!!

Dark Days?

I am a *little* freaked out by the swine virus. I really hope none of the international guests I have been working with are going to spread it to me. That would make me sad. Especially if it killed me.

And to make matters worst I just found out that Bea Arthur died! She was only 86! If you want to learn a little more about her check out this story.

I really don't want to go to work today...

Sun Kissed

I went to the beach this morning and managed to get a sun burn.

A SUNBURN!!! I only spent 45 glorious minutes in the sun by Lake Michigan and managed to get a burn that will hopefully develop into a lovely tan.

Happy 23rd Birthday to Moi!!!!!

Stuck in the Middle

Work was a bit annoying today. Corporate was there, so everyone was really weird. Especially the one manager. She doesn't seem to like me, she always glares at me and I always feel so intimidated by her. Plus, my two coworkers who ALWAYS fight were back at it today, fighting and putting me in the middle of their spat.

And now for my confession. I am reading Twilight and kind of liking it. I am so ashamed, but I can't put it down. I don't know why!!! I can't wait for my electric bill to come so I can take it to the Library and get a library card. ( I need to prove I live in the city).

Sunshine On My Shoulders

Today has been a beautiful day. A perfect day to celebrate Earth Day!!! I want to stay outside all day and take in the sun, I only have a couple of problems. First, the wind is still very cold and second if I wander the city to enjoy the weather I will end up spending money and I already bought a microwave and dress today so I can't spend anymore!

The couple of hours I spent at the beach I managed to snap these photos:

I love the Lake. It's so calming. I also love that I can go sit by the lake listening to it hit the rocks while I sunbathe and read a book.

P.S. I found these at the grocery store the other day. All I can say is "eeewwwwww".

Where are you from?

I often ask people at work where they are from because we have a lot of international guests. It's cool, especially when they have a good grasp of the English language. I love hearing about there stay in Chicago. But the odd thing about our guests is that they often ask me what my nationality is. So far my favorite guesses are Russian and Greek. I am neither of these, but I guess it's cool to look very diverse!

I've also had a lady tell me that I reminder of Vera Wang, which I thought was really weird. But I think it was because of the outfit I was wearing.

Tomorrow I don't have to work! Yay!!!!

Accidentially in Love...For the Moment.

Chicago is winning my heart.

Kind of against my will.

Today was a very good day. I actually got up in time to go to church, a church I liked. Then I hopped on the "L" and ended up just outside of the State Street Macy's (where there is currently a flower show) and the Oriental Theatre. So I wandered into the theatre and managed to score front row rush tickets to "A Chorus Line". Having about an hour before the show I wandered into a book store and bought a book I swear I wouldn't read, but I've decided to be brave and go for it.

Being a very smart girl I went a little early to the theatre so I could run to the rest room since there isn't an intermission in the show. Once I found an empty stall I was surprised to find "Bad Wolf" scratched into the wall next to the toilet paper dispenser. Yes, it was dorky, but it made me smile.

The production was fabulous. I love live theatre. I also love that I can just take a train and buy rush tickets.

This silly second city is surprising me daily.

Smak It To Me

I mentioned in a previous post that my co-workers don't really get along. I had hoped that it was mainly a one day thing and today would be better. I was wrong. There is a lot of tension. I just want everyone to get along. I guess this means I will start looking for my new job. I can't handle this tension. I get enough crap from crazy customers, I don't want it from my co-workers too.

But until I find that new job I am here, trying my best!

Did I mention that this past week a company from Grand Rapids called me in for an interview? Yes, many months after I had applied they decided that wanted to meet with me. I find it very, very annoying. They had my application for MONTHS and now, after I've relocated and taken a job that is kind of annoying, they want to meet with me. Jerks. Why doesn't the world work in a timely manor?

Alrighty, I've ranted enough.

Tap Dancing Elephants!

I didn't see Tim Gunn today. I was really hoping since he was in Chicago he would drop into WT, but he didn't. Plus I don't think he would stop by my department. Maybe next time, or maybe someone else will stop by!!

I love knowing that in a big city there is a very real possibility of seeing a famous person. It makes life more exciting. I feel like if I ever meet someone famous it would be like the whole Mark Ruffalo thing all over again.

Speaking of work, the other girls in my department don't seem to get along. Great fun, especially since everyone complains to me about the other person. I really hope they work things out and get along.

Blurred Vision

Today I spent over an hour with one customer in a bra fitting. But at least she opened a credit card when we were done. But I think the worst part of my day was that for the last 3 hours of the work day I had a headache. Not just any headache I think it was a migraine because it is still with me. (But I don't have to be to work until 1:30pm tomorrow so I can try to sleep it off!)

I am happy and feel so lucky to have a job, but at the same time I feel like what I am doing is below me. That sounds awful, but I think I feel this way because I don't feel challenged intellectually.

I just realized today that I am going to be 23 in only a few weeks. It seems weird.

Boom Sha Boom

My apartment looks like a bomb when off in it. The dryer in my building does a less than stellar job at drying. So all of my clothes are damp and hanging over chairs and my bed trying to dry. Plus, all the things I need to unpack are everywhere but in my closet.

I hate unpacking.

I also hate that I burnt my dinner.

Friends, I am looking for a new phone. What companies and plans do you guys use?

P.S.
I just finished the newest episode of Dr. Who. I wasn't that impressed. I expected more. More of what I'm not sure, but it wasn't as interesting as I was hoping for.

Mamma Mia!

Something very random happen today. I was at the morning meeting at work and who should be standing there but a fellow college alum. That's right, someone I know works at my work. I will give you a hint, she played a pig in a college production. It was completely crazy!

I have a new couple things I would like to rant about:

1) Wind. I hate you, well not all the time, but when you are freezing and strong you annoy me.

2) People who need you to look through all the bras or undies for their size instead of doing it themselves.

3) Mean people. Why can't you just be nice? I'm nice and I expect you to be nice back!

I will leave you with this classic music video, just because this song has been in my head.

Here Comes Peter Cotton Tail!

All day at work the Easter song "Peter Cotton Tail" was running through my head. It was kind of annoying. But at least Easter is only a few days away.

I came across the Bread Art Project today. It's kind of cool, but for some reason I'm having problems with the site. Hopefully it will work for you! For every piece of bread you decorate or "toast" bread is donated!

One final note, when I was in DC there was a touring production of The Wizard of Oz performing at the Kennedy Center, and the girl playing Dorthy performed at the opening of the American History Museum. Well, just now as I was watching TV I saw an ad for the Wizard of Oz and it is the same production. I just saw the same Dorthy!! It's following me!

Ding-Dong

So the "L" makes a ding-dong noise when the doors close. Isn't that backwards? Shouldn't they ding-dong then open?

Just a random observation.

Growing Pains

Today I got a real feel for what it is like to work in retail. Let me just say I am less than impressed. But I guess I just have to suck it up and move on.

Wish me luck, I need to get someone to sign up for a credit card and meet my goal tomorrow.

Not much new here, I am so tired. I can't figure out if it is because of my work schedule or because I am an hour off still.

I am so excited for this weekend, three whole days off to hang with my family!!!

Maybe after Biggest Loser I will go to bed...hhmmmmmmm, sounds so nice!

Hob-Knobbing

I think I met a lady from the IOC (International Olympic Committee). It was kind of cool. She told me that she was from Mexico. I am only mentioning this because I think I just saw her on TV.

Chicago has put a bid in for the 2016 Summer Olympics. I think it is very cool and I am very excited. I hope they get the bid. Wouldn't it be cool!? It seems fitting. They once hosted a World's Fair. I actually think the World's Fair would be cooler, but I would settle for the Olympics!!!

Can't make no vows to a herd of cows.

I just spent an evening with my cousin and a friend eating left-over Chinese food and watching this movie:

I've never seen it before. I am amazed. Plus I think a few of the brothers might be gay...so they didn't really need a "bride". But it was entertaining and fun to watch!

Sailing away

I can see a sail boat on Lake Michigan from my apartment! It's so cute! I love that spring is finally on it's way! Ok, I know they are talking cold and snow for later in the week, but right now it is lovely.

Last night my parents, my cousin and my dad's cousin all went out to dinner a great little Chinese place. It was really fun. My dad's cousins are very amusing. Especially Esther. She is from Singapore and she cracks me up! She calls everything "lovely" and calls everyone "love" and "sweetheart".

Here are some pictures of my apartment:

Now you all have proof that there is a place for you to stay when you come to visit me!

A New Bed

I have a new bed. My parents bought it for me from Ikea. It is cute. My apartment looks like a real place and is less depressing.

I am happy.

My parents are visiting for the weekend and I have real furniture!

I hope you all come to visit soon!

Observations

#1: My apartment is very quiet right now. In fact it's the first time it's been this quiet since I moved in. It's kind of weird.

#2: I am really tired of people calling the birth marks on my neck hickeys. I don't even think about them or notice them until some strange guy comes up to me and tries to hit on me saying things like "those hickeys are nice". Yuck, not a good pick up line boys.

#3: There is a little old man on my street walking his little white dog. It's very cute and makes me like my neighborhood a little more.

#4: I may not have Meijer's but I think Treasure Island maybe my new favorite store if I can just figure out which one is closest to me. I see people with the bags all the time!

We've got a live one going and we want him to stay that way.

I found Doogie Howser, M.D. on Hulu thanks to Moi. It makes me so happy. YOU should watch it. It will make you feel happy!

In other news, I now know how to fit people for a bra. That's right, I can help you pick out a bra. I even had three hours worth of training to prepare me!

Oh, and another happy thing, my DC roomie is expecting! I'm so excited for D & K!!!
