I think there is something funny going on...

You Are a Playwright

You are a highly literate wordsmith. You love both reading and writing.

You are also a natural storyteller. You can turn a mediocre anecdote into a riveting tale.

You find people and all aspects of life fascinating. No topic is off limits for you.

In modern times, you would make a good filmmaker or novelist.

Thank you Moi and Toi, now I am sure that there is something really weird going on in the universe...

All the World's a Stage...

Have you noticed that my post have become more "theatre" themed? It's kind of funny because so has my life...

I spent too much money at the candle party. I bought this (the little candle holders in the upper left hand corner), and some raspberry &thyme scented tealights. I was very close to buying this for Moi, because I know how much you love baby elephants, but I wasn't sure if you would really like it. If you do let me know, maybe it will be a birthday present!!!

In baby news, Veronica and Brandon, two fellow members of the class of 2004 had their first baby this past week. Sophia Mae. And I just learned today that Sara, another member of the class just got married and is expecting twins. She is due in July and I kind of think that she may have been knocked up before they got married, I saw her only last month and she had gained a lot of weight and said she wasn't feeling well and this was before she left to marry the fiance who is in the army or something.

My final piece of news for the month of January is that I auditioned for a play, just to be nice to the director, and I think I have a part, meaning until the middle of March I need to stick around this area for rehearsals. I'm excited but it's kind of frustrating because I was hoping to do a trip out to DC very soon to do some more job hunting. I guess I will focus on job research and come up with an attack plan for DC. OH, Moi, that means I will be going through Pitt!!! Yay!!!

Drama, Drama, Drama...

So the open casting in Chelsea was fabulous. We arrived and there was a three hour line ahead of us, and since it was freezing and we had only gone for kicks and giggles, we left and found this cute little cafe and enjoyed warm drinks. It was really fun, because some people were really serious about getting a part, they had pictures and resumes with them. It was so funny. The best part of it all is that you can do it online! All you have to do is fill out some paper work and send a picture. I haven't done it, but maybe I will!

Besides that my life has been a little dull, job hunting and all that kind of stuff. I am going to a candle party tonight. Yay!!!

I only wish we were making the candles instead of buying them, wouldn't it be more fun to make the candles instead of just purchasing them? Think of all that wax!

Ok, off I go, I need a nap...

Warning, Danger!

So I still get emails from the french embassy. They are always warning me about things, here's an example:

U.S. EMBASSY PARIS, FRANCE
SECURITY UPDATE

This Warden Message alerts U.S. citizens to a large demonstration in Paris scheduled for this Thursday, January 29, 2009.

According to local police, there will be a large demonstration organized by the major French trade unions this Thursday, January 29, 2009, beginning at 1:00 p.m. A march will begin at Place de la Bastille and end at Place de l’Opéra. Areas affected will be Place de la Bastille, boulevard Beaumarchais, boulevard Filles du Calvaire, boulevard du Temple, Place de la République, boulevard Saint Martin, boulevard Saint Denis, boulevard Poissonnière, boulevard Montmartre, boulevard des Italiens, boulevard des Capucines, and Place de l’Opéra. Local police estimate the demonstration should end around 8:00 p.m.

French police expect at least 40,000-50,000 participants. Public transportation will be heavily disrupted. Automobile traffic is expected to be disrupted in various areas throughout Paris; routes should be planned accordingly.

We remind American citizens that even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and possibly escalate into violence. American citizens are therefore urged to avoid these areas, if possible, and to exercise caution if within the vicinity. American citizens should stay current with media coverage of local events and be aware of their surroundings at all times.

I love it!

Yesterday I made the most awesome tomato sauce! I started with onions and garlic, deglazed the pan with red wine, added herbs and spices and a can of tomato sauce and put it on crunchy bow tie noodles. It was so yummy!!! I was so proud of it I plated it nicely and took a picture!

Oy!

So I am on the hunt for a new church.

I have tried for a really long time to accept the new priest at the church I have been a member of since I was a baby, but I can't do it anymore. I think the man is a jerk. A real jerk. The "straw that broke the camel's back" came this weekend when he began talking about abortion followed by him complaining about people who talk about cottage cheese. I just couldn't do it. I stood up and walked out in the middle of his homily. I am done, I will not put up with the kind of crap that he does. I will not return to St. Catherine's until they have a new priest.

It's really a sad situation, I really like that church, I like that I know everyone and that it can be like my second family, but since he became the pastor things have changed, and not for the better.

I'm out.

End of the Week Round up!

Chad is offically done with all of his exams! Yay!! He said he felt really good about them which makes me feel good! I really hope he comes home with fabulous grades!

With all of the subjects we reviewed I only had an issue with one. Biology. Which was weird because I remember loving Biology. I had a fabulous teacher, Mr. Pease, but unfortunatly Mr. Pease doesn't teach at my old high school anymore because he committed suicide after a little scandel. The new teacher, in my opinion, sucks as a Biology teacher. The class is completly lecture, and they don't touch their books at all. The BRAND NEW books sit in the kids' locker during class. The books are great! I've seen them and I can't believe they don't use them! Plus the teacher creates definitions for the vocabulary words that aren't correct! The biggest issue I have with the class is that they don't disect a single thing. Not even a worm. What kind of Biology class is this that the kids don't disect a single thing!? I can't believe the parents don't revolt and ask for the teacher to do a better job or be fired!

Well, now that I am done with that, I have something else I would like to rant about. The other day when I was at the Colonial Coffeehouse (CC) I overheard the owner talking about her son who is in Iraq. He was just caught in his first battle/attack and had his first confirmed kill. She, the owner of CC, was saying how upset she was at the thought of someone trying to kill her son and how now her son would always have that with him. I began to feel really upset. I don't think it's right that anyone should be put in that situation. Mother's shouldn't have to watch their sons become killers and sons shouldn't have to fight for their lives. I am really, REALLY upset by the whole thing. I HATE WAR. It's just so wrong. How can we still be sending young men and women over there everyday to die and to kill? Doesn't anyone else feel how wrong it is? It breaks my heart and makes me incredibly sad.

That was a happy post, sorry, I promise that next week I will have a fun story. I will be going to an open casting call for a Hilary Swank movie in Chelsea! I am sure I will have plenty of stories after that! I will even try to take pictures!

100 Post?

So this might be my 100th post, but maybe not. Blogger is giving me a couple of different numbers, so let's just say "yay" and imagine that we are all sharing a piece of cake that say "congrats on 100 posts!"

C-town is crawling with cops. First I saw a couple of village cars and now a Sheriff car just drove by. I wonder what is going on?

This past weekend and for the rest of this week I am tutoring my friend Chad who is a sophomore in High School. He's is a really nice kid, but school is really hard for him and he works really, really hard just to get a C. I feel bad because with all the effort he puts in he deserves an A. Yesterday we spent 3+ hours on Math. It was exhausting and he still had a take home exam and a notecard to write up once we were done with the math review. Tonight is Biology and Geography. I think the Geo will be fine, but we haven't even touched Bio and from what I've seen it's going to be an extensive exam.

In other, less important news, I am still job searching. I have filled out some forms for school substitution, but I won't be able to start until after the orientation session in February. I am just so frustrated and have no money after my unpaid internship at NPR so it's like I am starting from square one, trying to save just enough money so I can move to some amazing city and find an adorable apartment and hopefully a full time, real-life adult job.
