I had one crazy weekend.
I was back in MI for a baby shower and a wedding shower.
With my family.
At least I earned two drinks out of it.
Ok, I didn't really earn them, but won them. Is it bad to bet on your family?
Anyhoo, my pregnant cousin is expecting a baby girl, or so the sonogram says, but the cork says differently.
What is the cork?
You've never seen this done?
Oh, silly friends, it is classic!
You dangle a cork from a string above the belly of a pregnant woman and it can tell you if she is having a boy or girl. A spinning cork is the sign of a girl and a back and forth motion indicates a boy.
It's not really scientific, but my mother claims it correctly predicted both myself and my brother.
So we will see if my cousin really has a little girl. It could be very amusing if she has a boy instead, she received lots of little pink clothes!
The ramblings of a college graduate without a real plan for her life...

Coming in like a Lion?
Well, Hello!
I am so sorry my friends, it has been forever! I will admit my lack of blogging is a result of feeling blue, or I guess the best description of how I was feeling was the "mad reds" (the first one to name that movie reference gets a prize!).
Anyhoo, I am a little more positive now and have lots of news.
Starting today, the first day of March, I am going to blog everday. Well, at least I am going to make a go of it. I am hopeful that I can do it this month.
My second piece of news is that I am going to start giving you fun facts about the fifty states. Each day will be a new state. You will need to read the whole post to see which state is featured today!
The third piece of news is that last night I met my friend Kristy's little boy. He is just too cute. He is six weeks old and so adorable. Everytime I hold a baby I feel a bit more friendly to the idea of kids.
I am trying to think if I have more news. I am sure I do, but nothing seems worthy of writing here. On to the state of the day:
ALABAMA!!!!
...is the 22nd state in the United States. It's capital is Montgomery, and it's unofficial nickname is the "Yellowhammer State". It has the 23rd largest population. Some famous Alabamians include Nat King Cole, Helen Keller, Harper Lee, Courtney Cox Arquette. If you would like to learn more about this fabulous state visit them here.

We're off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz...
Today I received a letter in the mail that included a couple of pictures of my friend Kristy's baby. I saw the picture and thought "Boy, I glad that I don't have you as my responsibility." Was that wrong of me? He's a cute baby, but he is a whole new person, who will need to be taught everything, from eating solid food to spelling his name and a multitude of other things. I just don't see how anyone our age can be fully prepared for that! It must be so hard!
But maybe my view on babies is a bit off since I am at a different spot in my life than those who are choosing to have children.
In a side note:
Dear World,
I think your Karma is a bit off so please fix that and get back to me when you have decided to be nice. Thank you.

I'm just too nice!
Oh my dear friends,
I am once again frustrated with my life. My interview with JDL went well, great in fact, but it wasn't enough for me to get the job. I recieved a call yesterday that went like this:
Kate(librarian): Hi Rebekah. I'm calling to let you know we went with another canidiate.
Me:Ok
Kate: Well, ya, actually it was a really hard decision between you and an internal canidate.
Me: Ok
Kate: I encourage you to apply for the sub postion. It's still open. Thanks for meeting with us!
Me: Ah, no problem. Thanks.
Kate: Thank you! Bye.
Me: *crying*
Arrgggg. It is incredible frustrating friends!!!
Anyhow, I met Regan on Sunday! Toi, I know you and I talked about her a little bit a go, but she is really very cute. She is in this stage right now where she likes to bounce when you hold her! My arms are sore today!!!! Too Cute!
In final news, my aunt convinced my grandpa to pay for her and three of my cousins to go to Florida because "Brian and Brittnee are seniors and need a senior trip" Which I have a major problem with. He didn't pay for me to go on a senior trip, or any of my other cousins for that matter and this time I wasn't even offered a plane ticket. I am just too nice to my family. I never tell that what I am actually thinking and that is how I end up in the perdicaments I do with them.

Kinder Bars...
I am really craving a Kinder Bar right now, anyone up for a trip to Europe to pick some up?
I am *trying* to shop for my brother's 21st birthday and I am having no luck. At first I was going to get these books he really wanted but the set cost over $100 and I don't have that so now I need new ideas. What should I get him?
The other day I hit a snow bank really hard and I spun all around and I was so sure I had hurt my car, but my dad looked at it and said it was ok. I didn't really believe him, but I got brave today and took it out for a spin and I *think* I was was just over reacting. Hopefully it's ok, I can't afford a new car right now!
Oh, I thought of another classmate who has twins...I wonder if he has anymore kids?

All the World's a Stage...
Have you noticed that my post have become more "theatre" themed? It's kind of funny because so has my life...
I spent too much money at the candle party. I bought this (the little candle holders in the upper left hand corner), and some raspberry &thyme scented tealights. I was very close to buying this for Moi, because I know how much you love baby elephants, but I wasn't sure if you would really like it. If you do let me know, maybe it will be a birthday present!!!
In baby news, Veronica and Brandon, two fellow members of the class of 2004 had their first baby this past week. Sophia Mae. And I just learned today that Sara, another member of the class just got married and is expecting twins. She is due in July and I kind of think that she may have been knocked up before they got married, I saw her only last month and she had gained a lot of weight and said she wasn't feeling well and this was before she left to marry the fiance who is in the army or something.
My final piece of news for the month of January is that I auditioned for a play, just to be nice to the director, and I think I have a part, meaning until the middle of March I need to stick around this area for rehearsals. I'm excited but it's kind of frustrating because I was hoping to do a trip out to DC very soon to do some more job hunting. I guess I will focus on job research and come up with an attack plan for DC. OH, Moi, that means I will be going through Pitt!!! Yay!!!

Let is Snow, Let it Snow, Let it… well not too much snow
I am still mad at blogger for what it did last time. That is why I wrote this blog a few hours ago and had it saved in a Word document. I wasn’t going to rewrite all that stuff again.
Anyhow, I have more baby news. Andrew (who married the summer after we graduated) is expecting his first (well I guess, his wife is expecting and he just waiting). Ryah, a girl I went to high school with and totally forgot about until she friended me on Facebook, has one kid and is engaged. I guess she lives in the Bay City area. How you go from C-town to Bay City I will never know! There is also Kirk (who I will admit to having a crush on in late elementary and early middle school) has one kid. Kirk was held back one year after his mom died, but I still considered him part of our class because he went to CCD and Sunday school with me so it was like he was in the same grade.
One day last week I met up with my friend Meg and somehow the discussion of a five year high school reunion came up. I hadn’t really given the whole reunion thing much thought until she mentioned it. Half my class will already be married, or have kids or both. I guess success for others I graduated with is measured by the number of kids you have. Unless I can get married and knocked-up before the reunion in the summer I am going to look like a loser!
Well, I guess that is it for now, I was going to re-write the post that blogger lost and add it to this post, but that would be way too long. I talk about the family drama some other time.
Oh, I almost forgot, I am thinking about coming up to G-Rap the weekend of the 16th, 17th and 18th. Toi, I think you need to go with me and take a mini break from all that studying! MMM, I am so excited for the ice skating, but I give you fair warning, I will fall flat on my face and you will have to reward me with hot cocoa!

The Weather Outside is Frightful
It is very chilly outside. The snow melted yesterday in the rain and today is very chilly and there is snow blowing everywhere. I miss DC weather.
My dear friends, I think I have offended Karma somehow. The job interview I was suppost to have this week was pushed back to the end of the month and I was told that to position doesn't even open until the summer. I am beginning to feel very frustrated.
Moi, I may just pick up and move to NYC right now.
In happier news, my aunt and I went shopping in Kalamazoo and had a lovely time. It's funny how your relationships change as you grow older.
Tomorrow I am going to EMU with my brother to help him pick out classes and have a brunch with my friend Meg. I am excited, it should be fun! But I am sure it will make me miss college. I am slowly becoming very jealous of my little brother.
Friday I am going to visit my cousin's little baby! I am so excited!!!!!! And in other baby news I met my friend Cassie's baby. He was so cute!
I love babies, especially when they aren't mine, I can appreciate them so much more knowing they aren't my responsibility!!!!

Baby News
I finally have a picture of my cousins' baby!!!

She's pretty cute! I can't wait to see her in person!
To continue with the baby news I recently found out that one of the people I went to high school with, who is only 23 years old, is dating a 33 year old with an 11 year old kid. All I can say is Holy Shit.

Charlie bit me!
Sorry, I was thinking of this video today on the metro and I just had to find it and share it. Charlie is too cute, as is his silly brother who is dumb enough to put his finger in Charlie's mouth.
Not much is new here, I am exhausted, because for some reason I have become an insomniac again.
So far this week my bus has decided to run 40mins late, right on time, and 10mins late. It's so hard to plan when you have no idea what it's going to do. At least today when it was 10mins late it was free. I have no idea what, but it was a pleasant surprise.
Work is becoming a little more exciting, I have two major projects in the works along with the intern edition stuff that I had to go to a photo shoot for today. It was kind of weird, but fun.

What a weekend!
I spent the weekend with Moi, Toi and Toi's roommate E and E's boyfriend. It was awesome. We painted and it looks AMAZING!!!!!!
I love Pittsburgh, it is adorable and tons of fun!
****
On Friday my cousin finally had her baby, a girl named Regan Kelsey, I am not totally sure on the spelling, but I can't see her doing weird things with the spellings, she's pretty normal. So Moi, when yo asked if she had had her baby she totally did, but for some reason my mom felt she needed to wait and tell me today.
Ok, I am very tired and really hot for some odd reason. Off I go to prepare myself for the work week!

Je ne sais pas...
Sorry this post is going to be completely random.
Can you believe we are approaching the 7th anniversary of 9/11? I can't. It's too weird, especially now that I live in a city that felt the direct effects of the attack.
Another on of my high school classmates is engaged. That takes the percentage of engaged/married/babied/divorced up to 25%. I still believe there are others I don't know about. I feel like singing "Another One Bites the Dust" everytime I hear wedding/baby news. Gosh I sound bitter, I'm not, I'm just amazed because I think we are still too young!
I saw "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Part 2" yesterday. All alone. It was good, but I felt weird seeing a movie all alone. It made me think of that episode of "Sex and the City" when Carry has lunch alone. Before the movie they showed the Harry Potter trailer. How exciting! I can't wait!
It seems I had other random things I wanted to say, but I can't remember it now.
Miss you all!
